Throughout the school year Alpha Phi sisters make participate in and attend a variety of events hosted by other groups in the Greek community. Each event raises money for a charity. Attending other Greek events is a great way to meet other members of Greek life and learn more about the philanthropic organizations that other groups support through their fundraising and events. Our sisters make teams for Pi Kappa Alpha's Matthew Tembo Soccer Tournament and Sigma Alpha Epsilon's Donut Dash as well as buy dinner tickets for Kappa Kappa Gamma's Pasta Pasta Sauca and Delta Delta Delta's Delta House of Pancakes. The work of Carnegie Mellon Greek organizations raises thousands of dollars each year for charities in the local area as well as national foundations.
Social events are a favorite part of each semester for Alpha Phis. Each semester we hold two or three external social events with fraternities and other Panhellenic groups. In the past we've held s'mores and pizza night with Sigma Alpha Epsilon, speed dating with Sigma Phi Epsilon, and an outdoor barbecue with the brothers of Sigma Chi. Our sisters also hosted a Panhellenic pass-a-pot event where members of the other five Panhellenic sororities came and enjoyed a baked potato bar and each other's company at our house.
Internal social events are also a wonderful chance to spend time with sisters and friends at off-campus venues. Each semester Alpha Phi hosts two internal social events for sisters and their dates. One event is usually more low-key, previous venues include The Yard and Dave & Busters. The second event is usually more formal held at a hotel or up-scale venue somewhere in Pittsburgh. Social events are a wonderful time for sisters to enjoy a night away from their studies and other campus stresses, dress up, and spend time with sisters and friends. All events include entertainment to make sure everyone has a wonderful time!
