BIG AND LITTLE
One of the best parts about becoming an Alpha Phi is having the opportunity to form a bond with another sister that is unlike any other. Big Sisters serve as guiding mentors throughout your Alpha Phi journey. They help you pick the right classes, give great advice, take you out for frozen yogurt, and most importantly, are always there for you, no matter what. New members are paired with their big sisters just before Initiation in the fall semester. New members meet potential big sisters throughout a series of Ivy Linker events coordinated by the Director of New Member Education in the weeks leading up to Big/Little reveal. The week of reveal is filled with clues, gifts, and excitement as new members wait patiently to find out who their big sisters will be. Each member learns who her big sister is at Big/Little reveal and then finds out who else is in her Phi Family! Sisters look forward to Big/Little reveal each year to find out which new members will join their Phi Families, and help welcome new members even more fully into the chapter.
Each semester Alpha Phi sisters can participate in chapter-sponsored events specifically designed to help sisters get to know one another better and learn more about each other. From active events like ice skating at Schenley Park in the winter, to hiking the nature trails surrounding Flagstaff Hill, our sisters love getting active together and spending time with sisters as they hike, skate, run, and more throughout the year. Other sisterhood events include spa nights and sisterhood lunches where sisters meet-up at a predesignated spot on campus to enjoy lunch together during their busy days. Alpha Phis also enjoy massive sleepovers together at Sisterhood Retreat once a semester. All sisters spend the night at the house and enjoy homemade dinner and breakfast together, games, watching movies, and just hanging out. It’s a wonderful night every semester where sisters can truly de-stress and enjoy the company of other Alpha Phis in the company of our house.
